Guidelines and help for preparing your documents to apply for a job opportunity in German hospitality.

The need in the german hospitality industry for skilled workers and for apprentices is very high.

But there is also a lot of competition as many young people from around the globe are trying to get this opportunity.

Therefore it is very important that your papers are in best possible order to improve your chances to get invited for job interviews.

You need a meaningful cv for the employer to present yourself. And you need the certificates to proof your qualifications and achievements for the legal authorities in Germany.

The employer usually receives a whole lot of applications and resumes. So it is important that you let them know in your cv who you are and what you have done so far. The cv is a structured document with personal information about yourself (your name, your date and place of birth, your education, work experience, languages you speak and at what level, etc.). In addition you can write a motivational letter where you can talk about yourself and your motivation why you want to move to Germany freely and with no strict structure. You will find some links below with examples and best practices.

CERTIFICATES

Your CV will be the first document that your potential future employer will study.

The second look will be at certificates and proof of your qualifications.

That could be documents from your school or the university you may have visited.

Every single certificate as proof qualification that you own could be important to the employer. So do not forget to mention it in your cv and attach a copy of it in your application.

PHOTO AND VIDEO

You do not necessarily need a photo in your cv. But why not? You are beautiful, so show it!

But remember that you are applying for a job. That is a serious process that could have a big effect on your life.

And why not send a short video instead of a written motivational letter to accompany your cv?

Have a look at the videos below to get inspired.

DOUBLE CHECKING

When you are done with your papers and maybe even with a video, have a good look over everything and make sure you are satisfied with your work.

Have you checked for spelling mistakes?

Is your picture and/ or your video in good sound and picture quality?

If you are not sure or you want to have a second opinion, do not hesitate to ask a friend or a family member to support you by having a look.

Get creative and have fun to tell the world who you are!

There are endless possibilities how to shoot and produce a short introduction video about yourself.

You do not necessarily need any fancy effects. But maybe you have a friend that knows how to use video editing software to help you.

IF NOT, IT IS NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL. THE MOST IMPORT PART OF THE VIDEO IS YOU.

BTW: If you do speak german, let your future employer know. Even if it is just a few words.
