Depending on your educational background, there are two kinds of job opportunities in Germany.
Germany has a very unique three year vocational training system in place. The idea of this program is to give the opportunity to learn a skill-based profession and obtain a
recognized qualification without the academic background.
The first big difference is that this training is job based with
parallel theoretical studies at a school or polytechnic. The second difference is that this goes far beyond the artisan trades.

If you love the interaction with other staff members as well as with guests, a good way to start your career is to work in a service department of a hotel or a restaurant. Especially if your German language needs improvement and you want to develop steadily without too much pressure, your choice to start off as a member of the service team is the right one.

The kitchen area has many different aspects to offer. Usually you will work together in a team of various cooks, each one a specialist in its' own discipline. The kitchen is a very good way to take your first steps abroad.

If you have achieved a certain level in the German language (at least A1) and your ambitions are hight to boost your career to the next level, you might want to start right away in the management. You could start at the front desk of a hotel or as a manager at a restaurant.

APPRENTICESHIP
The apprenticeship in Germany is a three year training consisting of practical work and theoretical lessons in a professional school.
During the three year training plan the apprentice will receive a fixed salary.
At the end of the training is a test. When passed the apprentice will receive a diploma by the German Chamber of Commerce that is valid all over the world.
To start an apprenticeship in Germany, you will need to have passed Grade 10 and a certificate of the Goethe Institut for your language skills (at least B2).
SKILLED WORKER
To qualify as a skilled worker within the tourism and hospitality industry in Germany, you need to have a minimum two year accredited tertiary qualification (e.g. NQA in Namibia or SAQA in South Africa) and proof of working experience of two years or longer in a relevant business, such as a hotel or restaurant.
To speak the german language is not a necessatiy by German law, but will be highly appreciated by the corporation that offers the job.
